Dr. Bruce J. Markovitz is a board-certified ophthalmologist who provides comprehensive medical and surgical eye care with a special focus on cataract and intraocular lens surgery, laser treatments, and general ophthalmology. He cares for patients with a wide range of needs, from cataracts and diabetic eye disease to routine vision and primary eye care, and has experience treating individuals from many walks of life, including soldiers, dancers, and families. Patients can see Dr. Markovitz at ReFocus Eye Health Philadelphia and ReFocus Eye Health Camden, where he is welcoming new patients and is known for combining advanced techniques with a warm, patient-centered approach to preserving and restoring sight.

Dr. Markovitz’s training began at Penn State University, followed by graduate studies at LaSalle University, where he completed a Doctorate of Optometry and a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration. After serving four years in the Army Medical Service Corps, he attended Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, earning his medical degree in 1991 and completing his ophthalmology residency at Cooper Hospital in 1995. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, where he helps train future ophthalmologists. His long-standing role with Wills Eye Hospital and Lafayette Eye Associates reflects a career built on strong academic foundations and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
